Water Aerobics with Pool Girl: Shallow & Deep Combo Class

Explore the options of the aquatic environment with the best of both ends of the pool.  Participants will use the deep water to increase strength and flexibility by targeting the large muscle groups of the body, while also obtaining a great cardio workout.  To add variety and keep things challenging, the shallow area will also be used for additional stretching for the entire body.  All the components of exercise strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular will be met in this class by focusing on balance, coordination, speed, power, and agility.  A fun class for all!  Buoyancy belts

Thunder & Lightning Notice

Lightning is generally thought of as a threat to outdoor facilities, however, inside the building there is also a threat of electrocution.  Simply put, if there is an electrical storm in the area, you should evacuate any pool, indoor and outdoor.  While bonding and grounding of a facility may add a level of protection, there is no way to completely (100%) reduce the risk.

Having the right gear for your workout will yield a more enjoyable and personalized workout.  Finding and using the right gear “for you” will make a world of difference.  Below are a few items and resources that are my top picks.


You will want a suit that fits well, looks great, and will keep you covered for the session and beyond.  A few of my favorites are:

Tips for a Safe & Fun Water Aerobics Class


·         Be on time.

·         Bring all necessary medications you may need in a well-labeled waterproof container (i.e., nitroglycerine, inhalers, etc.) and keep them close to the poolside.

·         Use common sense and listen to your inner self!  Don’t exercise if your body is telling you “not today”.  You can still come – just take it easy.

·         Do not enter the water if you have an open wound or contagious skin abnormality.

·         Remove band-aids.

·         Wear appropriate water exercise attire.

Time to Register for Aqua Aerobics

It's time to register for Aqua Aerobics at Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC).

Classes are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:30 - 9:30am, 9:30 - 10:30am, and 10:30 - 11:30 am.

Next session begins on March 25th and ends on May 20th.

Classes are held in the pool at the Sr. of Divine Providence, North Hills, Pittsburgh, PA
